On Monday, We got a paper for our new warm-up and we have to make a story with it. It’s called the Animal Story. We have to choose one section to do for Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Tuesday, we had to make a vein diagram for the Greek mythology packet. Nothing much happened on Tuesday except for the 8th grade vs staff volleyball game and the glow buddy picnic. On Wednesday, a lot has happened. We did our animal story as our warm-up. We went to frontrow.com where we did our assignment then made questions for grandparents day on Thursday. On Thursday, Grandparents day, we took 3.7 notes for voyages and our grandparents/ guests came over to our school. It was fun. First was the interview with our questions, Second was the student telling something they never knew about their grandparents/guests, Finally the grandparents/guests shared some wisdom for the whole class. It was pretty deep, but useful information. On Friday, which is when the blog is due, we’re doing our animal story, which will finally be student’s choice. Then we read HOAS and have some ELA fun. I hope.

On Tuesday, We took notes about Pronouns that come after Than and As. That lesson was really confusing for everyone because of the examples. One of the examples: Sarah is faster than she. It doesn't make sense, but it means that she is fast. On Wednesday, We went on a field trip to the California Science Center. We had to make a roller coaster and used 4 different balls as our carts. Then, there were about 3 challenges. One of the challenges was who would go farther. One person plus sand or One person only. They were the almost the same. The second challenge was to make as much loops as you can with the roller coaster.
Most of them were 4 loops per coaster. The third and final challenge was to put everything away. It’s not really a challenge, but it stills was. After that, we went through economy, which showed us a video about the Endeavour. A rocket that took 68 hours to bring to the California Science Center. There was one zone called the River Zone. There was one machine that you need to hit so let air out. Lots of us got air in the face and it felt really weird. We went to another zone called the Extreme Zone. You had to stick your hand inside a net and grab the balls that are blown out in the middle. It hurts, but it was fun. Thats what we learned in ELA. Stress can influence your heart health. The attacker, Artan, posted on Facebook that he was “sick and tired” of his fellow Muslims “killed and tortured” according to the federal law. Artan was profiled in school as the school’s student-run newspaper in August. He traveled from Columbus State and struggled to find a place to pray. The community member described Artan as a good kid. It was confirmed that Artan just finished community college before starting the semester in the Ohio State. A US official said that Artan was a legal permanent resident. He originally was from Somalia and left in 2007 with his family for Pakistan.
A student named Jacob Bower at the age of 20 saw the killer pull out a large knife and chased around people trying to attack them. He did not see anyone stabbed in the scene. Investigators used the surveillance cameras to figure out the tracks of Artan’s car before he arrived on the campus. Megyn Kelly opened up to the world and said “Trump threatened me before the debate.” Megyn Kelly says she has a good relationship with Trump’s kids, but she think they don't have a problem with one another. Megyn Kelly was called by Trump and on a Thursday night was the last time she saw him. Trump was yelling at her because of the interview with Harry Hunt, the author of "Lost Tycoon: The Many Lives of Donald J. Trump. Kelly did that Trump didn’t like and hung her up on the phone. She told him he couldn't control the Kelly File. Hunt told Kelly about Trump’s first wife, Ivana, had accused Trump by raping her. Kelly’s first question to ask Trump was about what he calls women that he doesn't like.
Trump called woman dogs, fat pigs, slobs and disgusting animals for the women he didn't like. Trump came after Kelly like a dog with a bone for about 9 months. “The accusation was in a sworn deposition during their divorce in the early 1990s”. This was outrageous for Kelly and she had to courage to say it out to the world and on CNN news. What Ivana said wasn't true and said that her ex-husband would make an “incredible” president. Kelly said, “He was not happy when I put the reporter on the show and four days before the presidential debate.” When Trump called Kelly and threatened her, Trump screamed and hunger up the phone on her. This week, We did a saint project and dressed like our saint. The whole middle school had to dress like there saint. We learned about Adjectives for Demonstrative, Interrogative and Indefinite. Demonstrative adjectives point out definite persons, places, things, or ideas. Interrogative adjectives are used in questions and Indefinite adjectives refer to any or all of a group. We also learned how to read a poem and their are 9 steps. After we wrote notes, we had to use those steps to find information in the song called, “In our Blood.”
We had to fill out a paper to show which words we do know and which we don't like verses, similes and metaphors. On Halloween, We filled out a paper to write our scary story and we read a story made by Edgar Allan Poe. The story was called, “The mask of the Red Death.” The whole class didn't get it because we all got confused where we were at and the words were different from the real one. We had a no red ink practice that was about Parallelism. Parallelism is when you change a word to make it more sense. For example, “He wanted to sleep, to eat, and drink.” You have to change the word “to eat” with “eat”. The rest of the day after all saints day, We worked on our superhero narrative for the whole class period. Some of us were able to almost get it done and others didn't finish. For the past 2 weeks, We learned about how to brainstorm about our superhero. We watched a video about Stan Lee and his ideas on how he makes a hero. He thinks about the power, how the hero got the power and the name of the superhero. We also learned about hyperboles, personification, similes and metaphors. A hyperbole is an exaggeration that cannot possibly be true. Personification is giving human qualities to nonhuman things. Metaphors are not using like or as, but using their own words and Similes use like or as as a comparison of 2 unlike things. We learned about different tags we can use for our dialogues like questioned, argued, said, replied and etc.
Descriptive Adjectives gives information about a noun or pronoun. Its telling about the number, color, size and other qualities. Most adjectives go before the noun/ pronoun and some go after the noun/pronoun. We watched a video about how you should write a story. You have to plan and think about the story and listen to your own writing. After the video, we watched another video about monster because we are making a monster story in 8th grade. You have to think whatever you think a monster is. You can make it playful, scary, sad, friendly and etc. We also learned about building your own fictional world. Think of your own universe. Who will have the power? Choose your own and make it come to life in your mind. The married couple, Nicole and Christian McDonald, just had twin baby boys. What they didn't realize was their heads. Jadon and Anias McDonald have their head joined together. Dr. James Goodrich spent 27 hours separating the twins. The parents had assured about Jadon with the left side of his head which was paralysis. They have spent 5 months operating on the conjoined twins slowly. On October 18, it was the 4th and last stage. No one has ever operated on the twins like Jadon and Anias than Dr. James Goodrich. They would have life like heads to be used as a blueprint to see how they would operate on the twins before they begin. When it was 4:30pm, Nicole and Christian, along with the family, began to play the waiting game.
After midnight, they continue to work through the twins brains, vein by vein. After 17 hours, Jadon and Anias were now working on 2 separate operating room tiles. This operation was very risky for the twins. After the operation, Nicole and Christian knew that it was a bigger challenge for Anias. Anias took 6 more hours after Jadon. He had trouble breathing and heart issues and seizures before the operation. Nicole and Christian thought the twins could stay like that because they were perfect. The twins were funny and happy and thats what they wanted to see. Jadon and Anias are both different. Jadon is more happy while Anias is quiet. Jadon and Anias have only known what would feel like fused together. |
